Meet the PGC Team

Cheryl Klock McNeill

Executive Director

Cheryl served as President of the Phoenix Girls Chorus Board of Directors for 2 years and elected to two terms as Chair of the Phoenix Boys Choir Board of Trustees, prior to assuming her current position as Executive Director. While serving as the Board Chair of the Phoenix Boys Choir, Cheryl was instrumental in the reorganization and restructuring of the Phoenix Girls Chorus.

She has over 25 years of experience in non-profit, business, and public affairs, having coordinated major fundraising events, managed a successful commercial real estate venture, served in a senior role with a major Presidential campaign in New Hampshire, and managed successful Congressional and statewide campaigns. She also ran her own successful campaign for public office. Cheryl helped found and open Victory Collegiate Academy, a public charter school for underprivileged youth in Phoenix. She has received several awards for her many leadership roles and achievements, has had her work published, and was recognized as a “Rising Star” in her field. She holds a BA in Political Science from Emory University and a Paralegal Certificate from the University of Hartford.

Dr. Margaret Palermo

Artistic Director

Dr. Palermo brings 24 years of choral teaching and conducting experience to Phoenix Girls Chorus. Her career has included public school choral programs, university ensembles, community choirs, church music, musical theater, and private voice instruction.

She recently earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of Arizona and is passionate about helping young singers discover their voices while developing strong musicianship and a lifelong love of singing.

Renee Wilson-Wicker

West Valley Choral Director

With over 30 years of mastery experiences, distinguished educator, Renée Wilson-Wicker, recently retired from the Gwinnett County (GA) Public School District. Holding the Bachelor of Music degree (Education emphasis) from Capital University, the Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and advanced Music Education coursework from the University of Georgia, Renée’s groups consistently earned Superior and Excellent ratings at adjudicated events and she has been recognized by the prestigious Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers over multiple years.

Renée, an active conductor, clinician, adjudicator, and servant leader, holds membership in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), Arizona Choral Educators (ACE), Arizona Choral Directors Association (AzACDA), Arizona Music Educators Association (AzMEA), and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). She currently serves as the Lifelong Coordinator for the Western Division ACDA as well as AzACDA and is a Certified Head Adjudicator for the Georgia Music Educators Association.

Laura Stevens

Harmonia Ensemble Director

Laura Stevens is an alumn of PGC and a music teacher at Great Hearts in Buckeye. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Ottawa University.

Rebekah Howe

Principal Accompanist

Rebekah Howe has 30+ years experience of piano accompanying and has professionally collaborated alongside choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists since 2010.

She has served as the Principal Accompanist for PGC since 2016. She has performed and toured internationally with the Phoenix Girls Chorus since 2012.
